Any chance of becoming a US resident (originally Canadian) for cheaper tuition?

I'm currently a Canadian student and I applied to Waterloo and a bunch of US schools in case I don't get into Waterloo. Tuition and living costs is the #1 concern for me so that's why Waterloo is my #1 choice. If I went to the states I'd have to pay $50k per year minimum, whereas at Waterloo it'd be around $20k per year everything included.
