Does anyone know about how long it takes for UHCO to respond back with interviews? I had my application verified and have received interviews or application holds from pretty much every school I have applied to. I'm instate and the optometrist I shadow has a daughter that goes there now and has talked to the dean. He told me that no one has gotten acceptances but from the Class of 2021 posts- that doesn't seem to be true...

Any and all information would be helpful. UHCO is the last school...

Hello, all! I am applying to optometry school this upcoming fall, so I am not familiar with Optomcas and the application process yet, but I am starting to gather my thoughts. How are shadowing hours verified or asked for when you apply to schools? A submission from the doctors that you have shadowed? Thanks!

Salus Acceptance - Questions !!

I am from So Cal and I have never been away from home, so moving to the East Coast would be a major life change for me.

So I am still in shock but I received a letter of acceptance from Salus. The letter says I have 14 days to decide or put the $500 deposit. I am still waiting to hear back from other schools, but I honestly don't think I will get in the others. Other schools have simply asked me to retake OAT, but I think that last effort was my best effort. I have a low OAT score so I...

IUSO admission day

Hello,

I have received an invitation to attend IUSO admission day. GPA ~3.5 and OAT scores: BIO:400, CHEM:400, ORGO:400, RC: 370, QR: 370, PHYSICS: 360

I was wondering if these scores matter after being invited to the admissions day? Is everyone on the same level who is invited to a admission day "interview"?

Also, what is the admission day like? Any advice? What are the acceptance rate after attending the admissions day?

I submitted Optomcas application to SCO today and only to find that SCO supplemental application is not available, saying
"Online Applications Closed
We're sorry, but online applications to Southern College of Optometry are currently closed. SCO accepts applications from July 1st through March 1st. We invite you to return on July 1st to apply to the College for next year's fall term.

Hello!

I currently am in my senior year of undergrad, completing my Biology BS and planning to apply to opto school this upcoming fall. I was look at the preqs on the OPTOMCAS website for organic chemistry. For many schools, it states that you need "2 qtrs w/ lab". I am on the quarter system and I've taken ochem I and ochem II. Ochem I does not have lab at my university, only ochem II and III. Do I still satisfy the requirement with just ochem I and ochem II?...

Help! What does this mean?

Thoughts on NOVA Southeastern University Optometry?

Is NOVA southeastern university college of optometry a good school to go to? Will I be able to get a job as an optometrist after graduating from there, even though its a newer optometry school?

I've been accepted to optometry schools that have been around longer and have a larger alumni network, but I think I liked NOVA more.

IU Optometry vs. NSU College of Optometry

I've been accepted to IUSO and NSU optometry in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and I am torn between the two schools. Due to scholarships they are exactly the same price for me, and I am from Canada so neither are in my hometown and I don't plan on practicing in either state.


Any advice????

I just submitted my application today. I applied to MCO, Indiana, Salus, OSU, Midwestern-Illinois, and ICO and I have already received an email from OSU that my application was put on hold because it was not as competitive. Just curious if anyone else has had this happened and if they were actually accepted after? Kinda starting to freak out. I just retook my OAT and got a 300 AA / 270 TS I have a 3.3 GPA and two years experience working at LensCrafters as an apprentice optician all well as...

Just curious if anyone has interviewed at KYCO? I have an interview in two weeks and I was curious what to expect at KYCO because I have not come across a thread about their interviews. Also I know Indiana is an admissions day not formal interviews but any insight about Indiana admission day would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

New OAT scores and Interviews

I was just curious if anyone knows which schools will invite you for an interview only having a copy of the Unofficial OAT scores, and which schools tend to wait for the Official scores to be received. I retook my OAT Jan 31, and sent my "unofficial" improved scores to each school I applied to. I know that it could take weeks for them to receive my official score report.

I'm sure you all are tired of these, but I need honest opinions. I just took my OAT this past week (little late to the game I know).

Scores:

RC - 290
QR - 290
Bio - 320
GC - 310
OC - 300
Phy - 350

GPA: 3.9 from Texas A&M University.

Hoping to get into UHCO, mainly. So do I have a shot? What does the SDN community think? Especially those familiar with UHCO. Already invited for interview at SCO. Thanks!

Hello, I am currently a sophomore and I was wondering if shadowing hours are necessary. I have only shadowed 2 doctors & they only allowed me to shadow for 1 day each and I worked at an optometrists office as a receptionist for about 2 months & I learned a lot about vision insurance.

Hi there everyone!

I had an uneasy first year and I just didn't do well in my major classes. I got a B in PSY 103, intro to psych, a b- into gen chem lab I, a c in gen chem 1 and calc A. For my second semester, I got a c in gen chem lab 2, a c in gen chem 2, a pass ( as in fail 0ption) for calc 2, a d for intro to bio. I'm a 3rd year student at UofT with an 82-83% averaeg (3.62 gpa). If I were to apply to the States, how does the gpa/mark conversion work? Do they have a different gpa system from Canada? Thanks!
